All of us love the idea of a relaxing time spent in the country, whether a twilight ramble in the copse listening to nightingales, an early morning sunlit gallop over the sand dunes, or a long walk through leaves with the dog.

It was for just such occasions that The Forge was opened in 1995 in the beautiful village of Beaulieu, in the heart of the New Forest. The inspiration was simple - to provide comfortable country clothing, which was also stylish, in which to carry out those relaxed, and sometimes challenging county pursuits.

We choose contemporary country clothing, which combines the best of traditional with the newest of hi-tech fabrics for performance, good looks, and hard wear. It is clothing that will do the job of keeping you warm and dry in the worst of country weather, but stylish enough to wear for a day in town.

The Forge is part of a wider family business which was founded in 1876 by the present owner’s great-great grandfather, who was a saddler and also sold a whole range of weird and wonderful requisites, such as tarred string, stone hot water bottles,mouse traps, all so necessary for life in the country. We still understand what people need in country life today.
